Describe how you started in project management
I got started in project management in the spring of 2014. I was working as a Technical Support Representative at a software company and my manager quickly took note of how skilled I was at identifying and resolving customer reported issues. After 9 months of continuing to excel in that role my manager suggested that I apply for an upcoming Implementation Specialist opportunity. I was introduced to the implementation manager shortly after applying, she and a couple of her leads interviewed me and loved my approach to solving problems and my critical thinking skills and offered me the position the following day!
What has been a project accomplishment or a challenge that you have overcome that you feel most proud of?
I am most proud of a fond moment at Cowbell when I was facilitating a project discovery meeting with the heads of the design team, product team, engineering, and QA to assess the technical capabilities of the business requirements/needs. There were 2 very opposing ideas regarding which technical solution to implement so an argument began to ensue amongst 2 of the heads. I took a moment to politely interject and suggest that we create a diagram to capture details of each department heads' solution then identify the similarities, differences, and limitations of the solutions to come up with an MVP of the 2. Both department heads' had really great ideas and were passionate about them and me proposing that we do an analysis of the 2 to come up with the best product for the customer allowed us to design an even better product!
What is one fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I began my track career at the age of 4 and my first track coach was a former Olympic track athlete. During my Junior year of high school I was selected to participate in the Jr. Olympics training via an AAU scholarship.
